FreeBSD supports Women in Computing

The FreeBSD Foundation is a 501(c)(3), US based, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the FreeBSD Project and community worldwide. Funding comes from individual and corporate donations and is used to fund and manage projects, fund conferences and developer summits, and provide travel grants to FreeBSD contributors. The Foundation also purchases hardware to improve and maintain FreeBSD infrastructure and publishes FreeBSD white papers and marketing material to promote, educate, and advocate for the FreeBSD Project.

As part of their mission, FreeBSD Foundation sponsors events like WomENcourage to encourage women to explore opportunities within Open Source and especially within the FreeBSD Project. FreeBSD is a mature open source community that provides the opportunity to learn the details of a technology, improve one’s skills, network with others who share your interest in a technology, and gain real-world experience. The foundation is constantly seeking volunteers with various skill-sets to grow and enhance the FreeBSD Project. From code-related tasks, to assisting with documentation, translation, and advocacy, do reach out if you want to with an active committed community bringing about a better world powered by FreeBSD.
