The Textile Fashion Center brings together businesses, educational institutions, and research organizations to offer innovation support, first class education, community-driven research, and a vibrant environment for learning, culture, events, and experiences.

Midsummer celebrations:
This year, the summer school will take place just before the midsummer celebrations. Midsummer takes place during the weekend of June 20-21 and is a celebration of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. It is one of the most celebrated holidays in Sweden and should not be missed!

Getting to Borås
Borås is located in the south-west part of Sweden, 60 km east of Gothenburg. The central station and bus terminal is located in the city center within walking distance to the University. If you are flying to Borås, the nearest airport is Gothenburg Landvetter (GOT) Airport which is located halfway between Borås and Gothenburg.
Arriving at the Gothenburg Landvetter (GOT) Airport:
Bus: There are currently two direct buses between GOT airport and central Borås with departures a several times a day; FlixBus and Vy Buss. Tickets can be bought online at the company websites or at the Information desk at the airport. Note that tickets for FlixBus and Vy Buss have to be purchased before boarding the bus. If you're using Vy Buss, select "Landvetter Flygpas" as departure location and "Borås Resecentrum" as arrival location. The journey from the airport to the University takes around 35 minutes.
Taxis: If you cannot or do not want to go by bus, you can take a taxi. It is better to book in advance but there are also taxis waiting outside the airport. However, most of them are based in Gothenburg and charge extra when going to Borås. The fare is about 65 euros and takes about 30 minutes.
Train: The centrally located central station connects Borås to the rest of Sweden. The close proximity to the University makes it a convenient way to travel to Borås. Keep in mind that on most trains it is necessary to purchase tickets before boarding.

Food and fika:
If you need something to eat, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants close to the University and city center. Fika is a unique concept in Sweden, meaning “having a break” with colleagues, friends or fellow students. It means sitting down to talk about your day and having a coffee in good company and can also include eating pastries (fikabröd).
Street Art:
In Borås, everyone looks at art, every day. If you wander through the streets and town squares, past intersections and along the Viskan River, you can't miss the hundreds of sculptures, installations and mural paintings that come together within a radius of just 1.5 km. The public art in Borås is internationally acclaimed, and an ever-growing experience available to each and everyone, free of charge and all year round.
Textile Museum:
The Textile Museum is located in the Textile Fashion Center, in the old industrial area of Simonsland, where textile production has been taking place for almost 100 years. The museum focuses on fashion, textiles, design, art, the textile industry and innovative textiles. It offers exhibitions, workshops, tours and various activities where you can challenge your own creativity.

Currency | Sweden has its own currency, the Swedish Crown (SEK) which is generally the only accepted currency. Most swedes prefer to pay with debit and credit cards and increasingly with mobile apps to carrying around cash. Therefore, it is not so common to pay anything with cash. Most international card are widely accepted in shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Please note that you cannot pay with cash on most buses and trains, if you wish to do so, you need to buy your ticket before boarding. |
